We have some amazing partners along for this year’s Ski Tour.
Oskar Blues Brewery - Oskar Blues Brewery – The music-loving folks at Oskar Blues are way-down with the Dusters! They’ll be around at almost all the shows, with their classic Dale’s Pale Ale on hand at the venue, or maybe at a pre-party before the show. They’re bringing a pair of their awesome, custom Icelantic Skis that we’ll raffle off during the tour (all to raise money for Protect Our Winters), and stay tuned for info on a special day on the mountain with the band between Boulder shows. www.oskarblues.com/
Protect Our Winters - It wouldn’t be Ski Tour without Winter, right!?!? Protect Our Winters is not only one of our favorite acronyms: POW! They’re a great organization who is bringing climate change issues to the front for the snowsports industry. Founded by pro freerider Jeremy Jones after witnessing the changes on his favorite mountains firsthand, Protect Our Winters plans to educate and mobilize fans on the slopes and at the shows. Check out our merch table for more info on POW, and make sure you get a couple of raffle tickets for the Oskar Blues/Icelantic Skis, whose proceeds are going straight to Protect Our Winters. www.protectourwinters.org/
Mountain Khakis - Mountain Khakis are helping get folks out to see the Dusters with a big contest we just wrapped up for a trip to Jackson with hotel, meals, and tickets to the Dusters shows, along with great gear from Mountain Khakis and other brands. Congrats to Leslie in Sheridan, Wyoming on winning that prize! There’s still more: now through February 4th, at select MK retailers, anyone who tries on or purchases a Mountain Khakis product can register to win a pair of tickets to that town’s show. Check out the list below to visit your closest shop for a chance to win:
Durango – Pine Needle Mountaineering
Aspen – Ute Mountaineer
Boulder – Neptune Mountaineering
Park City – Park City Clothing
Jackson – Jack Dennis Sports & Skinny Skis
Icelantic Skis - What better fit for the Stringdusters and Ski Tour than cutting-edge skis, made right in Colorado? Icelantic makes an amazing product, and you just might catch some Dusters out on their skis between shows. Check out the Icelantic-made, Oskar Blues-branded skis that we’re raffling off at the merch table, and stay tuned for more opps on connecting with Icelantic and the band throughout the tour. www.icelanticskis.com/
The Ski Tour is one of the true Stringdusters traditions. And what good are traditions unless they can be shared with great friends. Of course, we invite our most coveted friends (you, the fans) to every event we do. But this Ski Tour we decided to open each night with some old friends from the hood.
We’re stoked to have Booksy’s friends and former bandmates Jon Stickley and Robin Davis opening our Colorado Ski Tour Shows. The three of them were in a band called Broke Mountain Bluegrass Band with Anders Beck (Greensky) and Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon) from 2003-2005. If you haven’t heard them, Robin’s band Waiting on Trial is a dirty desert bluegrass band with a penchant for whiskey and Martin D-21′s. Jon Stickley Trio is a free exploration of the gray area between jazz and bluegrass, smiles guaranteed. Both bands are awesome and we’re thrilled to turn our fans on to these bands that are both truly part of the family.
Tickets are now available for our headlining show at the9:30 Club in Washington, DC! We’ll be there on March 29th, the same weekend as the Craft Brewers Conference so be sure to get your tickets in advance since we’ll be the Friday night entertainment for festival goers.
We also have some great shows lined up around that weekend starting at World Cafe Live at The Queen in Wilmington, DE on the 28th and moving on to The National in Richmond, VA on the 30th.
We’re so pleased that The New York Times came out to see The Stringdusters play at one of our favorite venues, The Bowery Ballroom. And for publishing an awesome photo of the show. (Thanks to our lighting engineer, Brett, for his help with that too).
“What sounds casual and good-timey — handoffs from player to player, solos that turn into intertwined duets — is intricately plotted and arranged, attentive to the textures of each voice and string. The Infamous Stringdusters don’t leave bluegrass behind; they’re stretching it from within.”
We had great success at The Festy Experience this year keeping thousands of cups out of the landfill and maintaining clean concert grounds so we’re doing it again to celebrate New Years. Bring your empty steel pint cup (from The Festy, Floyd Fest, etc.) to our New Years Eve show and The Jefferson Theater will fill up your cup for $1 off draught beers.
Additionally all VIP ticket holders will receive a Kleen Kanteen steel pint cup and koozie in their package.
We are psyched for our triumphant return to Floyd, Virginia for the 12th annual FloydFest. Over the last two years, Virginia has become homebase for The Stringdusters camp and it’s exciting to stay close to home during festival season and still play one of the best festivals in the country. We hope you’ll join us in amazing Floyd. The festival is scheduled for July 25th to 28th, and tickets are available NOW for pretty incredible prices.
